Terra Cotta (TC)    AR 1                                                                                                                                

A good basic Terra Cotta Clay.  Suits all earthenware glazes.

Colour from straw to deep red browns.  

Texture Medium

Firing range 1060-1160°C  Biscuit 1020°C minimum.

           

Red Midfire (RM)       AR 23                                                                                                                         

A good plastic clay for throwing and hand building.

Fires terra cotta red at mid fire in oxidation.  

Texture Medium.

Firing range 1060-1200°C maximum.   Biscuit 1020°C minimum.

 

Red Raku (RR)          AR 7                                                                                                                      

A groggier version of Red Mid Fire. Good for hand building and sculpture.

Texture Coarse

Firing range 1000-1150°C maximum.  Biscuit 1020°C minimum.

 

Buff Raku Sandy (BRS)  AR8      

Suitable for hand building and sculpture Buff colour, 

Texture coarse.

Firing range 1000-1100°C.   Biscuit 1020°C minimum.

 

Buff Raku Trachyte (BRT)   AR9

Based on stoneware clays with large amount of refractory grog and crushed trachyte.  Beautiful strong plastic body, suitable for hand building and sculpture.  Very highly specked and dark in colour.

Also useable at E/W and Mid Fire temperatures.

Texture Coarse.

Firing range 1000-1280°C in oxidation.   Biscuit 1020°C minimum.

 

Hand Building (HB)   AR6

A sandy, biscuit coloured, medium textured hand building clay, developing flecks from 1100°C.  

Ideal also for large wheel thrown pieces.  

Texture Medium / Coarse

Biscuit 1020°C minimum. Firing range up to 1280°C.  

 

Feeneys Fine Blend (FFB)     AR500

Throw, hand build, slab, coil, earthenware, stoneware…….  

White/Cream at Earthenware, dappled grey/beige cream Stoneware. 

Texture Medium.

Firing Range 1000-1280°C

White School Clay (WSC)  AR221

General purpose & economical – great school clay.  Off White at EW grey/white at SW

Raku (R)     AR240

Hand build, slab, sculpture, large works, earthenware, stoneware. Buff Brown at EW brown mottle with iron blebs at SW

White Raku (WR)   AR242

Throw, hand build, slab, polish, earthenware, stoneware,                                                     

refire….even raku. 

White/Cream at EW dappled grey/beige cream SW

Raku Gold (RG)     AR244

Colour and Texture for throwing, hand building, slabs and raku                                           

Buff cream at EW to buff/Gold Mottle at 1200-1300

Texture Medium/Fine - a finer version of BRT

School Terra Cotta  (STC)    AR326                                                                                                                                 

A good basic School Terra Cotta Clay.  Suits all earthenware glazes.

Buff Stoneware (BSW)      AR525

Throw, hand build, slab, wood/pit fire, raku, large pots and sculpture.

Cream buff speckle at EW Toasted buff brown mottle at 1300 Reduction

Firing Range 1000-1280°C

 

Dark Stoneware (DSW) (Manganese stained BSW)  AR556 

Throw, hand build, slab, wood fire, raku, large pots and sculpture.

Grey/beige salt/pepper speckle at EW Cinnamon warm brown speckle 1300 Reduction

Firing Range 1000-1280°C

 

Red Stoneware (RSW) (Red Iron stained BSW) AR559

Throw, hand build, slab, wood fire, raku, large pots and sculpture.
