GENERAL GLAZING INFORMATION
Pleasing results can sometimes be achieved by
applying one glaze over another e.g. dip once in Grey Jade followed by a further
dip in Primrose as soon as the first coat is dry. If
brushing instead of dipping, a total of four coats may be necessary instead of
three: two or three of the first colour and one or two of the second. However in
this instance take care that the lower part of the piece receives only three
coats to allow for glaze flowing down during firing.
Alternatively, a glaze may be applied in the
usual manner, then when dry a contrasting colour may be sprayed on.
All glazes shown on this page have been fired on
our White Earthenware clay body in an electric kiln giving an oxidizing atmosphere.
Other variations in colour development of the
glaze will
also occur on applying the glaze over Terra Cotta or other coloured clay
bodies.
