"A smooth, white & robust body. Excellent to throw or for hand building of small to medium pieces. Easy to join and a pleasure to turn. All in all, an outstanding body."

Joe Szirer, Senior Lecturer in Ceramics, Monash University, Melbourne

"For years we have been looking for  a super white porcelain body (not grey, not beige). Finally we have it in Walker Superior White Porcelain. Its intense whiteness means much richer colour response. Its fine texture gives a glossier glaze result. Its fired durability survives the most destructive of commercial kitchens.

It is a versatile clay that can be pressed, thrown or hand moulded. The transition to this new clay has been eased greatly by David Walker's expertise and untiring back-up service."

" I have used Walker Superior White Porcelain and found it to be the best porcelain available in Australia for whiteness, plasticity and translucency. It is equal to imported French porcelains at a fraction of the cost."

Janet De Boos, Canberra School of Art, Australian National University

"I have tested various porcelain clays and decided Walker Superior White was the most suitable for making my translucent bowls. It is Australian made, much cheaper than the imported porcelains and is very fine but easy to throw."

Liz Hardy

"I am impressed by the vitrified quality of unglazed, high fired pieces made from this body, and I am keen to exploit this in future works, perhaps with the addition of body stains."

Brigiat Maltese

"I used Walker Ceramics Superior White Porcelain for hand building. The clay was very strong and easy to work with. Good translucency made it absolutely perfect."

Heidi Francis

Andrew Parker is a solid potter willing to pass on what he does & knows. He was anxious to give Walker Ceramics Superior White Porcelain a go to see if it lived up to the claims.

Porcelain clays are full of non-plastics, i.e. glaze materials which give it translucency, and throwing it can be like throwing cheese. In the wet state it always feels stiff, does not have much strength, can't be overworked and has a wicked memory. After this little rundown on how terrible porcelain is to throw, Andrew proceeded to throw it like any other well behaved throwing clay. Now either he is an even better thrower than we all thought or Walker Ceramics new porcelain body is fabulous.. or maybe it was a bit of both- that's for you to find out!

Andrew usually uses Walker Ceramics PB103- a clay which he calls "lick & stick clay"- something we saw him do quite a bit with additions. No one was was quite sure how serious he was about his recommendation to Walker Ceramics -"a strawberry flavour in it would be appreciated" he said.
